Rekindling Your Spark: How to Fall Back in Love with Your Business
Your calendar is full of client sessions, your income is steady, and from the outside, everything looks perfect. But something feels off. That excitement you once had about your business has faded, and you're wondering if you've lost your spark permanently.
I understand this feeling deeply. When I was autoimmune disease relapsed last year, along with some other significant challenges in my life, my thriving business suddenly felt heavy and misaligned. Today, I want to share how you can rediscover your passion, like I did, and create a business that energises rather than drains you.
Why We Lose Our Spark
It's not your fault if you're feeling disconnected from your business. Often, this happens because…
You and your business has evolved, but your model hasn't kept pace with who you've become
You're spending more time managing your business than doing the work you love
Your current schedule leaves no room for rest or creativity
Your energy is spread too thin across multiple offerings
Signs You've Lost Your Connection
When I work with established coaches and therapists, these are the common signs they share about losing their spark;
Dreading client sessions that used to excite you
Feeling trapped by your own success
Procrastinating on important tasks
Questioning if you should get a "proper job"
Losing confidence in your expertise
Rekindling the Flame: Practical Steps
If you’ve lost your spark, never fear! You can get it back again and it starts right here.
1. Reconnect with Your 'Why'
Take a moment to remember what originally drew you to this work. What impact did you want to make? What transformation did you want to create for your clients? Is it still the same or has it shifted? Write down your why, close your eyes and connect with the image of what you’re on this earth to achieve.
Sometimes, we get so caught up in the doing that we forget our purpose. Your 'why' might have evolved, and that's perfectly fine. The key is recognising what truly matters to you now.
2. Audit Your Energy
Look at your calendar for the past month:
Which client sessions left you feeling energised?
What tasks made you lose track of time?
Which activities drained you?
This isn't about judging your business - it's about understanding where your energy naturally flows and adjust where you spend your time so you can work primarily on tasks that light you up.
3. Simplify to Amplify
Often, we lose our spark because we're trying to do too much. Consider;
Could you streamline your offerings to focus on what you do best?
What if you simplified your marketing to methods you actually enjoy?
How might your business feel if you removed the elements that drain you?
4. Create Space for Joy
When was the last time you felt truly excited about your business? For me, it was when I had the mental space to be creative and connect with my clients deeply.
Block out time in your calendar for;
Reflection and planning
Learning and growth
Connection with peers
Rest and rejuvenation
Hobbies that you love
Moving Forward with Purpose
Reconnecting with your business isn't about making dramatic changes overnight. It's about intentionally creating a business model that reflects who you are now and where you want to go.
One of my clients, an experienced therapist, was feeling misaligned in her business and she wanted to make a shift in her niche. By refocusing her efforts on her new niche, simplifying her offers down to two core packages and creating space for herself, she was able to rekindle her passion for her work again and immediately sold her new one-to-one offer.
The Permission to Evolve
Remember, losing your spark doesn't mean you're failing. It often means you're ready for the next evolution of your business. You have permission to;
Change your mind about what success looks like
Adjust your business model to match your energy
Say no to things that no longer serve you
Create a business that feels like home again
Your Next Step
If you’re reading this and it resonates, know that you're not alone. That spark isn't gone - it might just need some space to reignite.
